Current Projects
Peel has the highest population of the State's regions.
Children under 15 years represent 20.6% of the Region's population. The projected population increase by 2016 is:
0-4 year age group – 62%
5-9 year age group – 38%
10-14 year age group – 37%
At the moment, Peel Health Campus has no paediatric ward to cater for the growing children population. The rooms presently being used for children are designed for adult care and do not offer a continuous monitored safe environment for children. The rooms are attached to an adult Surgical Ward.
Goals to improve our children's services:-
- Attract specialised expert staff
- Increased security
- Comfort for parents and patients
- Décor suitable for young patients
Our first major project is to build a specialised Paediatric Unit at Peel Health Campus to ensure all children will receive excellent treatment in a facility designed specifically for children.
We have raised $2.8 million towards our target of $3 million to build this much needed facility.
